Eicher Polaris launches Multix in India at Rs 2.32 lakh

eicherEicher Polaris Private Limited has launched its first vehicle in India, the Multix at Rs 2.32 lakh (ex-Jaipur). The company has labelled it as India’s first personal utility vehicle. There will be two variants on offer, the base AX+ and the top MX. The base variant comes without doors while the top variant comes with doors as well as an optional cover for the cargo area.

The Multix is powered by a 511cc diesel engine that generates 9.92PS at 3,000rpm and churns out 27.1Nm between 1,400 and 2,200rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The company says the Multix comes with unique features that were designed to cater to the specific needs of the target customer. The Multix is aimed at farmers and small business owners whom the company refers to as independent businessmen.

Siddhartha Lal, MD and CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd, said “We have identified a large untapped segment in independent businessmen with an estimated population of 5.8 crore in India, and are committed to create a new and strongly differentiated automotive solution for them through Multix. Our aim is to equip the consumers with the Multix ecosystem and enable them to unlock their potential by accessing a world of new opportunities. We have made an investment of Rs 350 crore till date.”

The cargo space is a generous 418 litres with the rear seat in place. This can be extended to 1918 litres by a simple three minute process. The rear windscreen is detached and then fixed on the B-pillar. The rear seat then folds flat to liberate maximum cargo space.
