Helmet is mandatory for two-wheeler drivers: Rajahmundry RTO

helmetRajahmundry Regional Transport Officer (RTO) V Siri Anand on Monday made a strict rule for two-wheeler drivers to wear a helmet.

“Wearing helmet is compulsory for two-wheeler drivers. Driving without helmet is punishable. The people who do not follow this will be penalised,” Anand said .

“So far a penalty of Rs 300 was imposed on two-wheeler drivers, who drive without helmet in Rajahmundry RTO office premises, according to the rules laid down in the Motor Vehicles Act,” he said.

An awareness campaign on helmets will be organised, he said.40 vehicles were seized by the Regional Transport Office on various grounds, which would be auctioned shortly, he further added.
