All set for SSC examinations

sscElaborate arrangements have been made for the SSC examinations which started today, with due emphasis on preventing the hi-tech methods of malpractice using cellphones.

As many as 6.52 lakh students are expected to appear for the examinations, which is being held for the first time in Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation by the Directorate of Government Examinations (SSC Board). Tight security is being ensured by the police in the vicinity of examination centres, while the Education Department has constituted a large number of flying squads to monitor the examinations.

In Chittoor district, as many as 56,607 students are writing the examinations in 270 centres, according to District Education Officer K. Samuel. More than 3,000 invigilators have been appointed to conduct of examinations. Twenty flying squads and an equal number of sitting squads have also been constituted.

Chief supervisors and departmental officers have been instructed to ensure timely procurement of question papers and their distribution. A round-the-clock control room has also been set up, with the helpline number 08572-229189.

In Prakasam district, 38,263 regular and 2,227 private candidates would be writing the examinations in 193 centres, according to District Education Officer B. Vijaya Bhaskar. Thirteen problematic centres have been identified. Students have been instructed to reach the examination centres by 9.00 a.m.

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transportation Corporation (APSRTC) is operating special buses for the students to reach respective examination centres.
