Mumbai Police upset with handover of Rajan files to CBI: Sources

chotaA CBI officer met Mumbai Joint Commissioner(Crime) on Friday. The CBI officer went through the Rajan case papers during the meeting. According to sources, Mumbai Police is upset with handover of Rajan’s cases to CBI.

The sources added that a top Ministry of Home Affairs official spoke to the Maharashtra Chief Minister on Wednesday. The CM told to announce that Rajan will be brought to Mumbai. The chief minister chaired a meeting with top police officers on Thursday.

It is also believed that the police claim that Rajan’s return was a “facilitated passage” by Indian agencies. The Mumbai Police believe the arrest in Indonesia was premeditated.

Meanwhile, Rajan who suffers from kidney ailments is likely to be taken to AIIMS for dialysis. Rajan was finally brought back to India on Friday after being on the run for the past 27 years.

Rajan landed at Delhi’s Palam airport at around 5:30 AM from Indonesia and was taken to the CBI headquarters at Lodhi Road for interrogation. The sources said that Rajan will be allowed legal assistance as law permits and the government will provide him with a lawyer if he is not represented.
