Jayalalithaa announces free master health check up plan for residents

jaya lalithaTamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced a free master health check up plan for residents. Under the scheme, blood tests, diabetes and urine tests will be provided at primary health centres.

Women will also get access to digital mammograms, thyroid and bone marrow tests.

Jayalalithaa has also announced a scheme for whereby new mothers will be dropped back home after delivery. Twenty new buses will be introduced for this service at a cost Rs 1.60 crore.

The state government has also announced 10 new primary health centres and housing for nurses.

Besides the master health scheme, Jayalalithaa said in the Assembly:

In the last four years, 172 primary health centres have been set up and at least 30 new bed services in 122 primary health centres. In coming year at least 10 new primary health centres will be set up.

To prevent dengue at least 281 blood banks and 415 centres have been effective till date. In the coming year 12 new blood banks and 10 centres will be set up at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

To end infant mortality, intensive care unit worth Rs 3.25 crore will be set up in Tambaram, Gudiatham, Tiruteni, Rajapalyam and Virudachalam.

Ambulances in the state have gone up from 406 to 751. The government is planning to renovate old ambulances at cost of Rs 5 crore.
