Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most ambitious project till date, Mission Digital India, takes off on Wednesday in the presence of top industrialists. The government aims to bring in 2.5 lakh villages under broadband connectivity through the ambitious programme. As part of the programme, the Army will launch a new office automation software for offices dealing with over 12 lakh serving soldiers.

The Prime Minister is set to present the government’s roadmap for digitising India by unveiling various schemes worth Rs 1 lakh crore. The schemes include digital locker, e-education, e-health, and a national scholarship portal.

The launch is expected to be attended by nearly 10,000 guests including top business leaders – RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group CEO Cyrus Mistry, Wipro chief Azim Premji among others.
