Kumar Sangakkara accuses London airport officials of racist behaviour

Kumar SangakkaraSri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara took to micro-blogging site Twitter to allege a racial discrimination and rough treatment to him at the London airport.

Sangakkara, who arrived in the UK to play for county side Surrey, did not reveal the details of the incident.

Sangakkara wrote on Twitter that though he had been travelling to the country for the last 15 years and this is the first time that he experienced such rude behavior from airport officials.

“Back in London last night. Had a horrendous experience with a rude, patronising and extremely discourteous UK immigration officer,” Sangakkara tweeted.

Hinting at racial discrimination Sangakkara wrote, “No matter colour, religion or fame every well intentioned traveler deserves courtesy.”

“I understand the need for vigilance completely but common courtesy and manners is not too much to ask for,” the southpaw tweeted.

Sangakkara retired from ODI and T20 format of the game earlier in 2015 and there are reports he may hang his boots from Tests in August.
