117 dengue cases confirmed in Chittoor

dengueWith the number of confirmed dengue cases touching 117 mark on Wednesday, the district medical and health department has dispatched emergency medical teams to various affected villages to destroy larva formation in drinking water sources and remove water stagnation near human habitations.

“We have information that some private hospitals are looting the gullible people by conducting rapid kit method tests for suspected dengue cases and referring them to corporate hospitals at the last minute. At present, we have the best Mac Elisa method available at SVRR Hospital in Tirupati, which alone is the standard parameter for diagnosis of dengue cases. Pamphlets would be distributed in all affected villages to visit government hospitals,” he said.

The District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) K. Koteswari said that though the dengue cases stood at 117, it could be even more as the number of cases from the district currently under surveillance in CMC Hospital at Vellore in Tamil Nadu and five hospitals in Bengaluru were not included in the sentinel survey.
