Four Hyderabad Men Questioned by Police About ISIS Plans: Reports

policeIn Hyderabad, four young men who allegedly planned to travel to Syria to join ISIS have been stopped by the city police and are being counselled, said sources, who added the men will soon be ‘handed over’ to their parents, who are also being counselled.

Police officers refused to comment or offer more information about the group.

In October last year, a former Google employee who was reportedly planning to travel to Iraq to fight with ISIS was stopped after he applied for a visa, the Hyderabad police said.

After quitting Google’s office in Hyderabad, the techie had spent months researching ISIS online, the police had said.

A month before that, in September 2014, four Hyderabad students who had dropped out of engineering colleges were detained in Kolkata, where they allegedly confessed that they wanted to cross the border in Bangladesh and then proceed to Iraq and Syria.

Top intelligence officials and army commanders have warned that ISIS is being effective in using the internet to target young Indians as potential recruits.
