Four of a family were killed in a road accident on the National Highway in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur District in the early hours on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as P. Ramamurthy Raju (60), his son P. Ram Prasad Raju (40), driver K. Chitti Babu (37) and another woman, said Mangalagiri Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) G. Ramakrishna, who visited the spot.
The mishap occurred when the speeding car in which the victims were travelling hit a stationary lorry near Kolanukonda village at around 5 a.m. The victims were natives of Narasaraju Street in Madhuranagar in Vijayawada.
The lorry, was carrying soft drinks of a multi-national company, and was halting on the roadside. Locals helped police in retrieving the bodies from the mangled car. Tadepalli police registered a case and are investigating, the DSP said.
