A joint team of GHMC and traffic police has initiated measures to overcome obstacles, which prevented HMRL from constructing pylons on the stretch. Traffic police have not granted permission to HMRL for taking up pylon construction work at 10 places on the Nirankari-Mythrivanam stretch due to some problems like religious places and graveyards, which reduce the carriageway.
The team identified some critical issues to resolve they are :
1.Graveyard at Nirankari junction,
2.Pochamma temple (opposite GHMC office at Nirankari junction),
3.Seven-temple complex (Khairatabad),
4.Shiva temple (in front of NIMS hospital),
5.Mosque near Punjagutta,
6.Graveyard and tombs at Shalimar junction,
7. Chilla and two temples (Ameerpet X Roads and Mythrivanam X Roads)—that need to be ironed out first for free flow of traffic.
During a review meeting chaired by GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar on the ongoing Metro rail construction, it was decided that a joint team of GHMC and traffic police would initiate steps to remove the bottlenecks by speaking to groups concerned so that HMRL could carry out its work. Hyderabad DCP (traffic) AV Ranganath, who heads the joint committee, said that solutions were found for all the bottlenecks after thorough consultation with the groups concerned.
As per the plan, 1.8-metre high ramps (mini flyovers) would be constructed over graveyards at Shalimar and Nirankari junctions so that vehicles would pass over some portion of the graveyard and the height of the ramp would also enable people to pay respects at the graves of their departed family members.
The team has also convinced the groups concerned to agree for shifting of two small temples and a chilla to new places. “Once we resolve the bottlenecks on the Nirankari Junction-Mythrivanam stretch, we will move on to solving similar issues on the Nirankari-MJ Market stretch,” the DCP added.
