A six-year old girl, Sk. Khoushar, was attacked by street dogs at Kakumanu village in Guntur District on Wednesday morning sparking off protests from the villagers, who staged a sit in protest on Guntur-Kakumanu Road.
The girl was attending nature’s call on the street, at a little distance away from her home, when a pack of dogs attacked her. She has prone to injuries and died soon after. Her parents were not at home when the incident happened.
The incident sparked off protests with the locals staging a sit in on the Guntur-Kakumanu Road. Police had a tough time in convincing the locals to clear the road. Traffic was held up on Guntur-Kakumanu road. Zilla Parishat Chairperson Sk. Janimun rushed to the village.
According to local sarpanch K. Madhusudana Rao, the menace of street dogs had remained unsolved for many years. He said that the Primary Health Centre was also not equipped with anti-rabies vaccine. A similar incident had taken place in the area in the last 10 days and the victim in the other incident was recovering in hospital.
