The Visakhapatnam district and near by areas are experiencing heavy rains on Sunday under the influence of a ‘trough’ formed over the Bay of Bengal, weather officials said in Visakhapatnam.
The trough in west central bay affected the entire coastal belt of Srikakulam, Vizianagram and Visakhpatnam.
Visakhapatnam city has received 14 cm rainfall on Saturday, they said, adding normal life was paralysed due to the downpour.
Low-lying areas and housing colony in Palavalasa village in Pedagantyada mandal were inundated, they said.
The weather officials have predicted heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the coastal areas in the next 24 hours.
