Paes-Murray advance to second round at Canada Open

paesThe new tennis combination of Leander Paes and Andy Murray took less than an hour to advance to the second round of men’s doubles in the $3.5 million Canada Open.

Paes and Murray defeated the South African-French pair of Kevin Anderson and Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-1 on the outdoor hard courts of Uniprix Stadium on Monday.

It was an easy outing for the Indo-Scottish pair who broke Anderson and Chardy five times in the match. The South African-French combine broke Paes-Murray just once.

Next up, Paes and Murray will take on the latter’s brother Jamie Murray, who has paired up with Australian John Peers.

Meanwhile, the Indo-Romanian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea got a first round bye. They will face a tough test next as they take on Serbian combine Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic.
