Champion wrestler Sushil Kumar has been recommended by the Union sports ministry for Padma Bhushan for the second time in as many years. But the ministry of home affairs rejected the recommendation, according to its guidelines there has to be a mandatory 5 years gap between two Padma awards to the same person.
Sushil, had been given the Padma Shri in 2011. So,he wouldnot be eligible prior to 2016.Wrestling federation of India secretary Raj Singh said he was also not sure about the rule.he thought it was 2 years but 5 years is a long period .Sushil is star athlete from India.we appeal to the government to go in favour of him.
we have to watch whether the government would relax the guideline for his sake or not?
