The family of late legendary filmmaker K. Balachander has announced the formation of the K. Balachander Foundation trust in his memory with a series of activities already planned.
“Firstly, we intend to provide financial aid in the form of scholarships to deserving children of the film employees. To institute a K. Balachander award for creative excellence for students of visual communications and propose to conduct an annual event on his birthday July 9 every year and give away awards in the field of theatre, cinema and television in which he was a colossus,” read a statement from the family.
Balachander’s wife Rajam will be the leading the trust, while his daughter Pushpa, son Prasanna, daughter-in-law Geetha and son-in-law Kandaswamy along with filmmaker Vasanth Sai, are other members.
