goa gang rapeJust a couple of days after the alleged gangrape of two Delhi women in Goa, state Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar made a mockery of the heinous crime by calling the five accused naive and small time criminals.

The women, aged between 25-30 years and their taxi driver Abhijit Kochrekar were allegedly taken to a lonely resort in the popular beach village of Calangute by the five men, where they were beaten up and gang raped repeatedly. The incident took place on Tuesday when the accused posed as policemen. They also allegedly demanded Rs 1.50 lakh from the two girls and asked the driver to go and bring the money.

After the driver went away, the five raped the two women repeatedly.

All five of them are in police custody for a week. Police have also recovered an MMS clip from the accused which shows the victim confessing to being involved in drug peddling and flesh trade.

Reacting to the alleged crime, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, “I have agreed and accepted that it is unfortuante, but some mysterious things will come and the police department and this government will take all pains to see that truth comes before the public.”
