Lakhvi is one of seven men on trial in Pakistan in connection with the 2008 attack in the city of Mumbai that killed 166 people.
On Monday, the Islamabad High Court ordered conditional release of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. The judge in a Pakistani anti-terrorism court hearing granted him bail, saying there was not enough evidence to hold him.
The current detention is not related to his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
