PM expresses grief at death of pilgrims in Rajahmundry

modiPrime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pain at the loss of lives in a stampede at Pushkara ghat at Rajahmundry. The Prime Minister tweeted expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayers to the injured.

He also said that he had spoken to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to find out the situation. “The situation is under contol, I was told,” Mr. Modi added in his tweet.

In another tweet, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao also expressed his deep condolences at the tragic loss of lives in the stampede.

Stating that it regrettable that lives are lost in stampede, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in another tweet requested people not to panic and said the situation brought under control.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister announcing Rs.10 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased in Rajahmundry, expressed his anguish over the death of some pilgrims at Pushkara Ghat at Rajamundry on Tuesday Morning. Mr. Naidu said that he has been monitoring the situation in the control room since morning and the Government was taking all steps to ensure there were no untoward incidents.
