Vizianagaram: A 10 class Dalit girl ended her life by hanging herself after the girl’s neighbour filmed her naked when she was taking a bath. He sent the videos to his friends and blackmailed her.
The 16 year old minor girl belongs to Malyada village under Nellimarla mandal in Vizianagaram district.The girl’s parents lodged a police complaint.
According sources, M. Mahesh, 22, the girl’s neighbour, filmed her using his mobile phone while she was taking a bath.Later he sent the videos and photos after visiting an Internet café, owned by his friend K. Ramesh, 25, in Kanimella village.
Due to continuous sexual harassment from Mahesh and Ramesh, the girl took the extreme step on March 7 at her home.
The victim’s parents approached village elders for justice, but the village elders tried to suppress the crime and directed the two accused and one more person, who also supported Ramesh and Mahesh to pay Rs 30,000 each to the victim’s family members.
