Telangana doctors form independent forum

imagesMiffed with the apparent lack of concern by Indian Medical Association (IMA), New Delhi towards addressing their issues, senior doctors representing a host of organisations from Telangana State have come together to form a Telangana Doctors Forum (TDF).

With the formation of TDF, comprising of members from association of government doctors, private nursing homes and clinics, past office bearers of IMA and medicos from Telangana, there is a huge question mark on the future of existence of IMA in Telangana.

On Thursday, in an interaction session with press persons, the TDF members highlighted the ‘injustice’ meted out to the community members by office bearers in IMA, New Delhi. The members made it clear that the national body of IMA is not giving them enough space and scope ‘to form an independent State branch to conduct its own affairs by doctors from Telangana’.

“In another 100 days, we will come up with the document on outstanding issues on healthcare and medical education. We are hoping that the Chief Minister takes this document seriously,” Dr. Gopal Kishan said.
